Abstract
The article focuses on Tibetan sculpture from the Nyingjei Lam Collection. It says that even though foreign traditions served as foundation of Tibetan Buddhist culture and arts, their impact was mediated by the creative involvement of Tibetan patrons and artists, who selectively incorporated elements from abroad. An overview of the influences of Indian and Newar arts to the Tibetan art is offered. It also discusses some of the themes of Buddhist sculpture from the Nyingjei Lam Collection.
