Abstract
The article provides information on a study which established a model of human seasonal influenza virus infection that consistently induces pneumonia in ferrets. The study made use of an intra-tracheal route of inoculation and a high viral dose of 109 TCID50 . It also tested these modified experimental procedures for subtypes H1N1 and H3N2 and for recent and older strains of these subtypes.
