Abstract
The article presents a document that addresses the challenge of long-term, hard-to-heal wounds that do not close after care for up to a year or more. Hard-to-heal wound needs to be flagged by a health expert prior to intervention. Underlying chronic venous disease that leads to chronic venous insufficiency is considered the most important risk factor for developing a venous leg ulcer. There is growing evidence for sub-optimal service delivery in which wounds are not managed via best practice.
