Abstract
The article discusses several missteps that can trip up the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) system that can be powerful in improving an organization's quality management system along with ways on how to avoid them. These include the lack of investigation plan, risk management in the investigation and CAPA process, and lack of true preventive actions (PAs). The need for organizations to identify and document relevant data sources or feeders of the CAPA system is also explored.
