Abstract
The author comments on the significance of evidence-based dentistry. He says that an evidence-based approach needs higher-order thinking on the part of the professional when making treatment decisions. The stronger a given research report offers evidence, the more weight it is given. Cross-sectional studies offer another level of data because the information is collected at a single point in time.
