Abstract
The article presents clinical complications of the refeeding syndrome. Refeeding, and the consequent release of insulin, results to suppression of gluconeogenesis. Refeeding cases water and sodium retention and the outcome increase in the extracellular compartment, as well as the application of intravenous fluids might precipitate cardiac failure and oedema.
