Abstract
The article discusses research on a unique developmental pattern of morphological and compositional traits that contribute to bone strength. It references a study by Shoshana Yakar and colleagues, published on the February 16, 2009 online issue of the "Journal of Bone and Mineral Research." The researches found that impaired subporiosteal expansion combined with impaired endosteal apposition can result from reduced bone strength associated with low levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in serum.
