Abstract
The article discusses a study on people's experiences of infertility and a focus group with general practitioners (GPs) to find out their perspectives of the primary care consultation. It draws from an indepth audio-recorded interview of 27 females and 11 males conducted in England and Scotland from 2007 to 2009. It indicates that some couples expect a lot from their GPs while others only want a referral.
