Abstract
The article discusses the concept and the challenges faced by the editorial team that brought the landmark publication "The Dictionary of Art." The dictionary has over 45,000 entries arranged alphabetically. The planning stages began with market research carried out among librarians and art historians according to director Ian Jacobs. The editorial team ensured its ease-of-use by placing introductory paragraphs summarizing the topic's importance and providing a numbered table of contents.
