Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the self-defeating control of native cordgrass populations against herbivore the specialist planthopper Prokelisia marginata. Comparison of native cordgrass, Spartina alterniflora, for resistance and tolerance to the planthopper Prokelisia marginata with invasive is noted. Findings indicate tolerance of One Willapa Bay genotype of S. alterniflora and decrease in the effectiveness of biological control as tolerant plant genotypes increase in frequency.
