Abstract
The article discusses a study on the conception of preservice elementary teachers regarding photosynthesis and plant cellular respiration and their connection. Based on the results, all participants believed that photosynthesis and cellular respiration were processes of plants. The study found that 27% of participants lacked knowledge on how photosynthesis occurs. Different descriptions of gas exchange were used by the participants in describing the processes.
