Abstract
The article discusses a study which evaluated the effects of roasted mate ice tea consumption on the glycemic and lipid profiles of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) or pre-diabetes. Blood samples were collected from 29 T2DM and 29 pre-diabetes subjects after drinking 330 milliliters (mL) of roasted mate tea. The study found that mate tea consumption decreased the levels of fasting glucose, glycated hemoglobin and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c) of T2DM subjects.
