Abstract
The article offers information on a hospital-wide point prevalence survey conducted in Australia which examines the use and appropriateness of antimicrobial prescription for hospitalised children. It mentions that collected de-identified data were submitted to the Antibiotic Resistance and Prescribing in European Children (ARPEC) data-entry system. It shows that 35% of antimicrobial prescriptions among surgical patients were inappropriate.
