Abstract
The article discusses an online method of screening sexually-transmissible infection (STI) intervention which was developed as cases of clamydia trachomatis continue to be reported in every county in Illinois despite substantial funding for traditional methods. It modified the website Iwantthekit.org to allow easy access to self-collected sample kits among residents from 25 contiguous counties of Central Illinois where returned kits were tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Of the 343 kits requested, 39.9% were satisfactorily returned where positivity rates for the STI types were analyzed based on gender and race. It was shown that results did not exceed those of other screening methods, especially because overall participation was low and did not outweigh the costs of the method.
