Abstract
Summary: These accomplished artists and their sculptures that resemble Rodin's were pivotal in the development of modern sculpture in the United States. These works of art exhibit surface contrasts that made viewers aware of the formal qualities of the medium. These sculptures frequently portray the nude figure, presenting it as a subject of beauty and sincere emotions to replace perceptions of its profanity. They represent contemporaneous interests and expressions rather than historical ones. Despite these technical and thematic advancements, Barnard, Tart and Hoffman were forgotten in favor of avant-garde sculptors, such as Constantin Brancusi, who significantly expanded upon Rodin's innovative ideas, rather than merely utilizing similar artistic techniques.
