Abstract
The article discusses the potential impact of the out-of-network business operations of Bayonne Medical Center in Bayonne, New Jersey, on patients and the health care services industry in the region. Details regarding the financial problems previously faced by the medical center are presented. The possibility that Hoboken University Medical Center (HUMC) will adopt the same business model being used by Bayonne Medical Center is explored. Information on how out-of-network hospital bills are transferred to insurance customers is also given.
