Abstract
A £3 billion celebrity property fund called aAim, which counts Manchester United football manager Sir Alex Ferguson as a founder shareholder and X Factor judge Simon Cowell as an investor, was reported at the weekend to be thinking about buying lots of commercial property. Why: because commercial property prices have fallen by 10%-20% in the past three months, and bargains can now be had. Why wouldn't they buy? A £2.1 billion non-celebrity property fund run by Scottish Widows this week sent a letter to thousands of its investors telling them they will have to give 180 days' notice before withdrawing cash.
