The article discusses the impact of scandals and the COVID-19 pandemic on Austria's economy. Topics discussed include companies get the lion's share of their external funding via long-term debt, the debt of nonfinancial corporates surpassed gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 and short-term corporate loan demand.
