Abstract
The article identifies the stresses on marine cargo tank coatings (CTCs) and considers how they relate to coating failure. It notes that drying and initial curing stresses occur when both waterborne and solventborne zinc silicates form rigid networks when they cure and advises film applicators to avoid excessive film thickness to prevent cracking. It also mentions the impact of temperature changes in terms of imposing stress on the coating system.
