Abstract
This article focuses on Peter Dixon, an economist and author of the book "The Theory of Joint Maximisation." Dixon began his career in economics as an outstanding undergraduate student at Monash University in Australia and then an outstanding graduate student at Harvard University. As the title suggests, Dixon's book is mainly a theoretical study. Always prominent in the book are the implications of the theory for the solution of numerical economic models. It is noted that Dixon has made an extraordinary contribution to the economics profession. Even more important, his work has enhanced enormously the extent to which the profession has been able to influence the rest of the world.
