Abstract
What can Themistocles, Sun Tzu, Frederick the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte and Carl von Clausewitz offer the top executive? Their experience on the battlefield has clear parallels with running a large business in today's highly competitive environment and can provide useful insights into what it takes to outwit competition, the author maintains. Here he distills some lessons for management based on military precept and cites some present-day examples to show that good corporate strategies often reflect the same principles that brought victory to history's great commanders.
