Abstract
The article discusses the solvent cementing method of bonding for joining thermoplastics. Topics discussed include suitability of solvent cementing technique for amorphous plastics like polystyrene or acrylics; increase in temperature promotes the dissolution of a polymer in the solvent and preparation of bonding area as high internal stresses formed during the fabrication of the plastic part can also cause crazing during cementing.
