Abstract
This article explores the need to re-imagine business school doctoral programs in order to enhance their impact and align them with industry needs. It discusses the importance of doctoral programs in shaping the future of business and management education and research. The article also examines the dynamics of business and management doctoral programs globally, including different types of doctorates and the influence of Western models in non-Western contexts. It emphasizes the need for closer alignment between organizations and management doctoral experiences, as well as the potential for doctoral programs to contribute to economic development and innovation. The article also addresses issues such as exclusivity and high fees associated with these programs, the need for integration and identity formation within doctoral communities, and the importance of career pathways and support for doctoral candidates.
