The entrepreneurs and investors developing these industries need some assurance that, as the industry grows and they contribute to its growth, they will be able to capture a portion of the profits. Creating thriving new space industries will require thousands of such innovations in both products and services, many of which may result in the creation of entirely new industries. A transformative space industry requires more than the small equipment that can currently be sent into space, and only one company seems close to providing low-cost access to space for heavy equipment: SpaceX.
