Abstract
The article focuses on the role of regulation in the strategy formulation of multi-national companies. It states that regulatory policy shapes the structure and conduct of industries. It mentions that regulation can be the largest uncertainty that affects capital expenditure decisions, risk management, and corporate image. It states that though regulations shape organizational structure, conduct, and performance, few companies have based their regulatory strategy on scientific principles. It comments on how regulation involves a constant negotiation process where companies create opportunities and manage downside risks.
