Abstract
The article discusses the importance of accurate mapping for hydraulic fracturing. According to the authors, developments in the understanding of the natural fractures in the rock mass using computerized models can help resolve some of the problems related to hydraulic fracturing. The authors stress that hydraulic fracturing is most effective when it works with existing fractures that are not necessarily connected to each other in the natural rock formation.
