Abstract
The article discusses the alleged overcrowding of Canada's property and casualty insurance market of August 2010. It cites Canada's attractive economy after emerging from the 2008-2009 financial crisis with major financial institutions intact and employment rising by 93,000 jobs in June 2010. It mentions Canada's 34 million population with premiums totaling 40 billion Canadian dollars and 230 licensed insurers competing for a small pie. Industrial risks are also pointed out, including severe storms in Eastern Canada where its deepwater rigs operate.
