Abstract
The article evaluates a study which focuses on the function of mammalian very-long-chain acyl-CoA (ACSVL) enzymes as acyl-CoA synthetase. FATP1 which is a protein highly expressed in muscle, heart, brain and adipose tissue has been the proposed designation for ACSVL4. It is suggested that there is a need to explain the mechanism by which ACSVL proteins facilitate cellular fatty acid. It has been concluded that ACSVL are bifunctional proteins, acting as ACS under particular circumstances.
