Abstract
The article explores the issue of drug and substance use in Zimbabwe, particularly among young people, and its connection to factors like poverty and limited economic opportunities. It also sheds light on the high prevalence of HIV among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Zimbabwe and the negative health outcomes associated with drug use. The study conducted in Zimbabwe reveals that MSM who use drugs experience poorer health and social outcomes compared to those who do not use drugs, including higher rates of unemployment, lower earnings, risky sexual behaviors, and lower rates of HIV testing and prevention measures. The article emphasizes the need for interventions to address drug use and its consequences, such as anti-drug campaigns and increased access to detoxification centers, while highlighting the importance of addressing the intersection of drug use and HIV to improve overall health outcomes.
