Abstract
The formation of localized deformation bands at the nanoscale level under deformation to the compression degree more than 36% in bainite 30Cr2Ni2MoV structural steel is revealed by methods of transmission electron diffraction microscopy. Deformation bands have a complex structure; their length is tens of micrometers and the width is about 0.5 µm. Bands are located mainly along interfaces of neighboring bainite plates or grain boundaries. Bands have a fragmented structure, and the size of fragments is less than that in the volume of the material. With growing strain, the volume fraction of deformation bands increases. Possible reasons for temperature conditions of the band formation and their structural features are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
