Abstract
The article focuses on cases of patients in a number of U.S. states who had rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterial (RG-NTM) surgical-site infections following cosmetic surgeries in the Dominican Republic. It relates how two cases of RG-NTM in Maryland has urged the Maryland Department of health and Mental Hygiene (MDHMH) to identify additional cases across the U.S. It outlines the number of cases identified whose surgery took place at surgical clinics in Dominican Republic.
