Abstract
The author reflects on the implication of gene therapy on the availability and cost of hemophilia treatment. The author claims that the results of a clinical trial on intravenous infusion of an adeno-associated viral-8 (AAV-8) vector expressing a selfcomplementary, codon-optimized human have critical implications for the treatment worldwide and the availability of a single treatment would also be a boon. The author states that the treatment is a big challenge to resource-poor countries.
