Abstract
An essay is presented on the city of Melbourne in Victoria which is branded by UNESCO, a specialized agency of the United Nations, as City of Literature. Topics include the Melbourne Writers Festival, insights of modern labour scholar Andrew Ross, and works of modernist writer John Dos Passos. It also explores a report from Arts Victoria, a state government in Australia responsible for the arts, concerning the tourists visiting the city.
