Abstract
Mitochondrial adaptations, including alterations in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) copy number, respiratory complex activity, and onco-metabolite production, are common in malignancies with possible prognostic impact [[1]]. The mRNA expression of biogenesis genes i.e. I TFAM, POLG i , I POLRMT i as well as I ND3 i was observed to be significantly higher in pediatric AML patients compared to controls, as mentioned in our previous study [[6]]. In adult AML patients, upregulation of mitochondrial transcription machinery genes including I TFB1M, TFB2M, TFAM, i and I POLRMT i , was associated with clinically aggressive phenotype [[10]]; however, this study did not evaluate I POLG i expression.
