Abstract
The article discusses various issues concerning the local staging and treatment selection for rectal cancer. It emphasizes the relevance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in staging rectal cancer patients. The role and benefits of multidisciplinary team (MDT) in managing patients with colorectal cancer are explained. In addition, the article explains how patients with localized rectal cancer are selected for preoperative treatment.
