Abstract
The article offers the author's view regarding the arguments of philosophers Emmanuel Levinas and Jean-Luc Marion on religious experience and self. The author states that Levinas and Marion argued that one should not predetermine the limits of what can and cannot appear as phenomenon. The author notes that they insist that self is constituted through primary encounter with an other that implies displacement or subjugation of the self.
