Abstract
The article describes the case of a 21-year-old man who had been stabbed and treated but suffered from delayed pericardial effusions, a life-threatening complication presenting up to 100 days after chest trauma. The patient was discharged following treatment and observation but returned again after 107 days with a history of dyspnoea, reduction in exercise tolerance and a dry cough that does not respond to antibiotics. Through urgent echocardiography, a global pericardial effusion of 6.4 centimeters was confirmed.
