Abstract
The article discusses the identification of a cluster of seven culture-confirmed Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli infections associated with goat dairy farm visits by Connecticut Public Health Department on March 24, 2016. Symptoms of patients include bloody diarrhea and developed hemolytic uremic syndrome. It highlights an investigation on the risks to farm visitors from direct contact with animals such as goats and soiled animal bedding, in the absence of infection prevention measures.
