Abstract
We believe that our discovery was an incidental finding especially as the tumoural cells didn't show any loss of expression of MMR proteins, and this despite the fact that our tumour presents certain characteristics of MMR-deficient breast cancers (high grade, high mitotic index, triple negative phenotype). This case highlights two points: first, a germline mutation is not necessarily involved in a given carcinogenesis and second, as cancer predisposition syndromes are not uncommon, and as genetic testing use increases, the incidental discovery of these syndromes will be more and more frequent, requiring appropriate management and interpretation.
