Abstract
Presents a study that examined the mechanisms by which aromatic hydrocarbons suppress constitutive hepatic cytochromes P450 especially the male-specific rat liver cytochrome P450 2C11 (CYP2C11) which is regulated by pulsatile growth hormone secretion. Involvement of aromatic hydrocarbon receptors (AHR) in the suppression of CYP2C11; Application of studies of protein-DNA interactions and reporter genes driven by the CYP2C15'-flanking region in providing a definitive mechanism for the suppression phenomenon; Possible regulation of the hepatic AHR protein by pituitary factors.
