Abstract
The article profiles the American composer Philip Glass. The influence of his musical work "Einstein on the Beach" on American classical music in the 1970s is discussed, also mentioning the remaining debate over its legitimacy. The Lincoln Center Festival has named Glass its featured composer and the author considers Glass's compositional aesthetics.
