Abstract
The article examines prospects for the global solar power industry following the collapse of California photovoltaic cell manufacturer Solyndra. A total of 1,100 staff were laid off in early September 2011 as Solyndra ceased operations. It notes the implication of Solyndra's demise for the renewable energy policy of the U.S. government.
