Abstract
The authors discuss a study by S. A. Glantz et al on changes in ambulance calls after the implementation of a smoke-free law and its extension to casinos in the U.S. They suggest that the study enables further insight into the benefits of smoke-free work and recreational spaces. They also report the study findings on the association of a smoke-free ordinance enacted in the U.S. in 2006 with a 22% reduction in ambulance calls.
