Abstract
The article presents a study that aims to develop and validate a score for predicting the risk of documented ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) for benchmarking. The study used multivariate logistic regression to analyze the data gathered from 1, 856 patients in the OUTCOMEREA database. The study found good calibration and discrimination in the training set tests as well as in the validation set. It concludes that international validation of the VAP risk prediction is needed.
