Abstract
In recent years, the proximal radial approach has become the arterial access of first choice for coronary artery opacification and interventional procedures, with much lower morbidity than femoral artery catheterization. Nevertheless, severe local vascular and hemorrhagic complications, although exceptional (1 %), still exist. Among these, iatrogenic false aneurysm of the radial artery, reported in 0.1 % of catheterizations, is one of the most severe, due to the risk of rupture. The last decade has seen the emergence of minimally invasive treatments (ultrasound-guided compression, direct thrombin injection) as alternatives to surgery, historically considered as the reference treatment, with comparable efficacy. We report on an original treatment of a large false aneurysm of the radial artery, using a covered coronary stent introduced via a distal radial access, at the level of the first inter-metacarpal space.
