Abstract
The article comments on the nomination of Justice Stephen Breyer to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1994. It also compels Republican senators in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee to deliberate upon the mission of Justice Breyer to make the average person's ordinary life better. That mission is noble, however, it is not a precise description of his judicial role. His mark as a Justice is likely to rely on his intellectual success in leading some centrists such as David Souter and Sandra O'Connor to liberalism.
