Abstract
The article presents a court case in which the California Supreme Court ruled that the couple James and Norma Gund were injured during the course of their employment as peace officers when they responded to a sheriff's call to check on their neighbor's well-being. The couple suffered lifelong injuries as their throats were slashed by an attacker. In the case Gund v. County of Trinity, the couple filed a lawsuit to recover damages from their injuries.
