Abstract
This article discusses the impact of the 2022 ACR/EULAR classification criteria on risk factors for relapse in patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). AAV is a rare and life-threatening disease characterized by inflammation of the small vessels. The new classification criteria aim to improve the subtyping of AAV patients and ensure homogeneous populations for clinical trials. The study found that the criteria had a minimal impact on patient selection for granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) studies, but potentially negative consequences for eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) studies. Reclassification also affected the distribution of risk factors for relapse in different AAV subtypes. [Extracted from the article]
