Abstract
The article discusses recent developments in the pathogenesis of blood-induced joint damage in case of haemophilic arthropathy. It is stated that infiltration of the synovial tissue with lymphocytes leads to an inflammatory reaction, resulting in cartilage damage. Recently, it has been demonstrated that induced joint bleeds in haemophilic mice resulted in an increase of pro- inflammatory cytokines in the synovial fluid.
