Abstract
This degeneration is unique, because it causes hypertrophy of the ION rather than atrophy. Dear Editor in Chief, Hypertrophic olivary degeneration (HOD) is a rare phenomenon that can occur after different insults to the so-called Guillain-Mollaret triangle (GMT), which is composed by the inferior olivary nucleus (ION), the ipsilateral red nucleus (RN) and the contralateral dentate nucleus (DN).
